Larry Bohannan Retirement Reception

Desert Sun offices, May 17, 2026

Larry Bohannan is surrounded by current and former colleagues as well as other Valley journalists during a reception to mark his retirement from The Desert Sun after 40 years with the organization. Larry was inducted into the Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame in 2026.

Free Training on Press Rights and Freedoms

UC Riverside, Palm Desert Center, November 13, 2025

CVJF coordinated a full, free day of training on public records requests, covering protests, and reporting on immigration and police misconduct for more than two dozen Valley journalists. We send a special note of thanks to presenters David Loy, Paloma Esquivel, Thad Greenson, and Ginny LaRoe of the First Amendment Coalition; the Knight Foundation, and the UC Riverside Low-Residency MFA program for hosting us in Palm Desert.




